Watch Care Tips

A well-crafted watch is more than just a way to tell time—it’s a reflection of your style, a piece of fine craftsmanship, and often, a treasured heirloom. Whether you wear your watch every day or save it for special occasions, a little regular care can go a long way in keeping it looking and performing its best.

Here are our top tips to help you protect your timepiece and keep it ticking beautifully for years to come.

Wipe It Down
A soft, dry cloth keeps fingerprints, moisture and dust from building up. If your bracelet needs a more thorough clean you can always drop in it in, and we can pop it into our ultrasonic cleaner for you, this is a free of charge service offer in-store everyday.

Avoid Magnets
Magnetic fields—like those around phones, laptops and speakers—can affect how your watch keeps time. If yours starts running fast or slow come in and one of the team can give you some advice on what may be causing it.

Water Resistance Changes Over Time
Even water-resistant watches need occasional checks. If you’re heading off on holiday or swimming regularly, we recommend a pressure test to give you peace of mind.

Service Every Few Years
A full service every 3–5 years keeps a watch movement running smoothly. We can service all types of watch movements and brands in our Omega accredited workshop.

Store It Properly
Keeping your watch in a cool, dry place helps preserve the movement and the strap.

Wind It Off Your Wrist
Winding your watch while it’s off your wrist reduces strain on the winding stem. If you’re unsure about how or when to wind yours, we’re happy to show you the right technique.

Don’t Change the Date at Night
Many watch mechanisms are mid-cycle between 9 PM and 3 AM, and forcing the date change during that time can cause damage. If you’re unsure pop in and a member of the team would be happy to help.

Check the Strap Occasionally
Clasp a little loose? Pin not quite, right? These things can wear without notice. We carry a range of straps and can replace pins or clasps while you wait in most cases.

Keep Leather Dry
Leather doesn’t love water. If it gets wet, let it air dry naturally. If the strap starts to look worn or faded, we have a wide selection of affordable straps available in store.

Avoid Bumps and Drops
A knock or drop can misalign internal components or damage the glass. If something happens, don’t panic—our watchmaker can assess the damage and advise whether a repair is needed.

Watches are built to last—especially with the right care. If you’ve got any questions, or your watch could do with a check-up, feel free to pop in. We’re always happy to help.
